Artist's Comments

It's finally done!

A very, very long time ago, I asked if everyone would be interested in a tutorial on how to use Apophysis gradients in UltraFractal, and the response was a resounding, "I can do WHAT?"

So, I figured this tutorial was needed. I'd love to hear feedback from everybody on how the tutorial can be improved.

Oh ma' goodness.
I read the whole thing.
It was like staring at the unblinking face of infinity.
Or ...
like looking through the Looking Glass. :D I sure didn't understand what I was reading, but I got a cool glimpse of what the fractal process is like.

Suave. I liked it.

LOL, yeah, I don't expect this to make much sense to anyone who doesn't know the basics of the program involved.

You can do this but I don't think it's all that useful... There are too many control points in apo gradients to make them really practical for editing in UF for most purposes... also I personally wouldn't use stock gradients for UF work, because escape time fractals are so gradient dependant, much more than flames. To be honest it's much more useful to go the other way and paste UF gradients into apo. :)

Well, most fractalists (well, the ones who aren't random flame render whores) spend a little bit of time tweaking their gradients, regardless of what program they're using.

As for UF gradients into Apo... have you *seen* the gradient resources section lately? ;P Every single gradient pack in there is put together with Apo in mind. I wrote this so that the people who use UF could actually use the resources provided, with a bit of tweaking.

oh believe me I have  I asked ^znow-white if we could have a UF section in the resources gallery and she said she would try to do it when the gallery is streamlined, so hopefully we will be getting more visibility for uf resources soon :)
